About the application
On 15 March 2017 interested parties were advised that the Department of the Environment and Energy had received an application from the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries seeking ongoing export approval for the Queensland East Coast Otter Trawl Fishery, and that consideration would be given to:
- declaring the Queensland East Coast Otter Trawl Fishery as managed consistent with the Queensland Fisheries Act 1994 and the Queensland Fisheries Regulation 2008, as an approved wildlife trade operation under section 303FN of the EPBC Act, and
- including in the list of exempt native specimens, specimens harvested in the Queensland East Coast Otter Trawl Fishery under the provisions of the Queensland Fisheries Act 1994 and the Queensland Fisheries Regulation 2008.
In accordance with the provisions of sections 303FR and 303DC of the EPBC Act, interested parties were invited to comment on this proposal. The public comment period commenced on 16 March 2017 and was due to cease on 13 April 2017.
This notice is to advise interested persons that due to recent weather events, the public comment period will be extended until 5 May 2017.
