Assessment of the Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery

Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, 2011

About the report

In December 2010, the Australian Fisheries Management Authority provided a submission for further assessment of the Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).

The submission reported against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries - 2nd Edition and provides updates on the implementation of recommendations made in the previous assessment undertaken by the then Department of Environment and Heritage in November 2005.

The Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and the Communities' 2011 assessment report considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
