About the wildlife trade operation

This Approved Wildlife Trade Operation involves the wild harvest, keeping and breeding of snakes by Venom Supplies. Approval enables the export of snake venom, venom derivatives and other products derived from snakes held by Venom Supplies.

Snake derived venom, venom derivatives and other products have been used internationally for medical research into therapeutic compounds, production of human therapeutics and diagnostics, pure research and development of biological reagents.

This small–scale wildlife trade operation was gazetted on 31 August 2011 and will be in force from 31 August 2011 until 30 August 2014.
