About the documents
The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet commissioned Marsden Jacob Associates to produce a report on urban water supply and demand that would scope the impediments to securing water supplies as well as the corresponding opportunities to improve the outcomes for Australia's major cities. The report is based on consultation with urban water providers and an intensive review of urban conditions. Performance and practices in particular urban centres are compared and contrasted throughout the report.
Key recommendations of the report are consistent with National Water Initiative priorities for more efficient pricing and full cost recovery of infrastructure investment.
