About this publication

This report contains a summary of the results from a stakeholder consultation process conducted to inform a literature review on ecological and cultural values associated with water. The objective of the stakeholder consultation process was to discuss the findings of the draft literature review with key stakeholders and the extent to which they reflect the situation 'on the ground.' This report summarises the key findings of the consultations and makes recommendations as to how the draft literature review can better reflect stakeholder experiences and views.

The consultation process was conducted in various locations throughout northern Australia from May – July 2011. A total of 42 people participated in the consultations representing a range of Indigenous and non-Indigenous organisations and interest groups.

The literature review is currently being prepared by DSEWPaC as part of the Cultural and Social Values program for the Northern Australia Water Futures Assessment.
