Irrigation Modernisation Planning Assistance

Water for the Future is the Australian Government's integrated strategy to secure long term water supply for all Australians. Under the Sustainable Rural Water Use and Infrastructure element of Water for the Future the Government will provide more than $5.8 billion for investment in improving the efficiency and productivity of irrigation water use and management.

Irrigation water providers who operate irrigation distribution systems within the Murray-Darling Basin are invited to apply for funding to assist them to develop modernisation plans.

Round 2

The Irrigation Modernisation Planning Assistance, Round 2 provides an opportunity for irrigation water providers in the Murray-Darling Basin to apply for Australian Government funding of up to $500 000. The funding will enable irrigation water providers to obtain independent professional expertise and facilitate workshops to assist in the identification and consideration of options for increasing the efficiency of their irrigation distribution system. It will also help irrigation water providers plan for the uncertainties and risks regarding future water availability.
