Restoration of Hyde Park Lakes

Total funding: : Total project cost of $4.4 million, with funding of $2 million from the Australian Government under the National Water Security Plan for Cities and Towns(NWSPCT) and the remaining funding provided by the City of Vincent and WA Water Corporation.
About the project
The City of Vincent is developing alternative water supplies to supplement the Hyde Park lakes, which have been drying out due to falling water tables. The project will implement engineering solutions and landscaping to ensure the heritage listed Hyde Park Lakes are appropriately maintained.
Project benefits
This project will:
- decrease the amount of water currently required and utilise natural systems to improve water quality, and
- maintain the Hyde Park lakes for the enjoyment of the community.
Progress
The project commenced on 7 July 2010 and is scheduled for completion by December 2012.
