Total funding: Total project cost of $377,569 million, with funding of $366,000 from the Australian Government under the National National Water Security Plan for Cities and Towns and the remaining funding provided by Maroondah City Council and the Victoria Government.
About the project
Maroondah City Council has invested in renovation works to stop water leakages of 30,000 litres per day and included water saving measures such as installation of rainwater tanks to facilitate use of non-potable water in toilets and for irrigation. The project involved installation of a backwash recycling system at the Croydon Leisure and Aquatic Centre and installation of a new water saving filtration system at Croydon Memorial Pool.
This project has:
- saved up to 5 million litres of potable water each year by using recycled water to clean the filtration system at the Croydon Leisure and Aquatic Centre, and
- saved approximately 1.95 million litres of potable water at Croydon Memorial Pool through the installation of innovative water saving filtration system.
This project was completed in 2009.
