Total funding: Total project cost of $800,000, with $700,000 provided by the Australian Government under the National Water Security Plan for Cities and Towns and the remaining funding provided by the Kempsey Shire Council.
About the project
The Kempsey Shire Council constructed a new water treatment plant for the Bellbrook water supply scheme, serving Bellbrook village and the surrounding community. The Bellbrook water supply had been prone to quality problems including heavy metal contamination over a number of years.
Project benefits
This project has:
- provided a secure and safe water supply that meets Australian Drinking Water Standards for the residents of Bellbrook
- reduced the water supply costs of the Kempsey Shire Council and the Bellbrook community, and
- doubled the amount of water able to be held in reserve in Bellbrook.
Progress
This project was completed in May 2011.
