About the report
Between 1990 and 1993, some 300 soil samples were collected from throughout the ARR as part of the Revegetation Research program: Project 3208 – Characterisation of mine spoils for plant growth factors: I. Comparison of mine soils with natural soils for chemical properties that may affect growth and long-term viability of native plants.
Soil samples representing upper and lower or combined horizons were collected at Ranger, Nabarlek and Coronation Hill, from mine spoils, adjacent natural sites and from natural schist terrain at Tin Camp Creek. Additional sites were sampled from sandstone hill formations at Mt Cahill, Barramundi Hills and Spring Peak areas as well as from sites associated with Burrell Formation Schist near the Gimbat station/Fisher airstrip.
