About the strategy
The Strategy covers all services and activities which produce wastes, including hazardous wastes. It focuses on minimising waste generation rather than just managing waste that has already been produced. It does not deal with the specialised area of radioactive wastes which is covered by particular regulatory regimes in Australia and internationally, and by particular Commonwealth-State consultative arrangements.
The document first identifies the basic goals, objectives and principles of the Strategy. Barriers to waste minimisation and recycling are identified and actions are proposed to achieve set objectives.
