The Renewable Remote Power Generation Program is closed to new applications except in Western Australia.
As of 8.30 am Australian Eastern Standard Time on Monday 22 June, pre-purchase applications are no longer being accepted for the Renewable Remote Power Generation Program.
All pre-purchase applications submitted to the relevant state program administrator prior to this will be assessed according to the program guidelines.
Please note this only affects pre-purchase applications. The deadline for rebate applications is provided on your pre-purchase approval letter.
Remote and regional communities can take advantage of the following Australian Government programs:
- Small scale installations by households, businesses and community groups completed on or after 9 June 2009 may be eligible to receive support for the first 1.5 kilowatts of renewable generation under Solar Credits once the renewable energy regulations are in force.
- Homes can access free, tailored advice for their homes and interest free loans of up to $10,000 through Green Loans commencing on 1 July 2009.
- Homes can benefit from Australia's most comprehensive rollout of energy efficiency rebates in history through the Energy Efficient Homes Package.
- The National Rainwater and Greywater Initiative provides rebates of up to $500 for households to install rainwater tanks or greywater systems. Contact 1800 808 571 for more information.
- The Government's $2 billion Caring for our Country program is available to regional natural resource management organisations, not-for-profits, Indigenous organisations, community groups, governments and industry bodies to ensure a healthier, better protected, well-managed and resilient environment.
The Australian Government is also committed to closing the gap of Indigenous disadvantage in remote and regional Australia.
The Government will continue to provide $2.2 million over the next two years to support Bushlight, a not-for-profit devoted to assisting Indigenous communities with energy advice and renewable energy support services.
Through a whole of government approach, a range of additional programs in education, health, housing, employment and family and community services are being implemented across Australia.
