GES Greenhouse Intensity Calculator
GES Greenhouse Intensity Calculator is an interactive spreadsheet tool for calculating and comparing the GES best practice performance range and current greenhouse intensity. The calculator accepts raw data from the participant (eg. electricity output, fuel consumption, fuel properties) and incorporates the methodology of the GES Technical Guidelines to simplify the process.
GES participants calculate a best practice performance range for each power plant. The specific best practice performance range for a power plant is calculated from data describing its past performance, age and fuel properties. Performance is measured in units of greenhouse intensity (kgCO2-e/MWh sent-out). Current performance is calculated from operational data collected over a 12 month period and compared to the best practice performance range.
