Background
The Australian Greenhouse Office (AGO) is investigating the feasibility of producing a national technical resource covering sustainable built form at ‘whole of development’ scale. It is proposed that this resource should focus on mixed-use (primarily residential) subdivisions in urban infill and fringe areas. This investigation has been driven by a recognition of the significant opportunities associated with implementing sustainability at this scale and a perceived lack of current practical, integrated information on how to achieve this.
Accordingly, the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) was commissioned to conduct a consultative process with a broad range of stakeholders to:
- Confirm the need for the proposed resource,
- Identify potential users and stakeholders, and
- Define a suitable framework for the development of the resource.
This report documents the findings of the stakeholder consultation process and sets out a proposed framework for developing the project. The framework is based on stakeholder recommendations and is intended to inform development of the project brief. It identifies:
- Project aims
- Target audience and stakeholder groups
- Outline of content to be covered and potential case studies
- Options for format and information design
- Potential linkages to complementary resources and initiatives
- Approaches for setting up, funding and managing the project.
