Research projects
A number of research projects have been funded under the National Biotechnology Strategy with the aim of improving basic knowledge of environmental risks associated with genetically modified organisms.
- Robust methodologies for ecological risk assessment
- Ecological impacts of GM cotton on soil biodiversity - 2004
- Environmental risks associated with viral recombination in virus resistant transgenic plants - CSIRO, 2002
Submission
- Environmental issues raised by the release and use of genetically modified plants and animals in Australia - 1999
Submission to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Primary Industry and Regional Services Inquiry into primary producer access to gene technology provides a detailed description of the benefits and risks associated with GMO use in agriculture, and looks at the principles of risk assessment and the regulatory system.
