South-east Commonwealth Marine Reserves Network Management Plan 2013-23

Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, 2013

About the Management Plan

The South-east Commonwealth Marine Reserves Network Management Plan is the primary tool for the conservation and management of the South-east network. It sets out the approach to and direction of management activities for the next 10 years. It is designed to provide certainty to users of the marine reserves by giving effect to decisions on zoning and allowable activities that were made at the time of proclaiming the marine reserves following an extensive consultation and planning process. It also provides flexibility to adapt and apply best management practices over time.

Many of the strategies and actions will need significant engagement with and support from marine users and the wider community to ensure the Plan's objectives are met.

The Plan is the first management plan for the South-east network and will come into effect on 1 July 2013.
