The Commonwealth Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts will be conducting its annual program of aerial spraying for the environmental weed 'bitou bush' from Wednesday 27 May to Friday 29 May 2009.
The program involves application by helicopter of ultra-low volume (3 litres of bioactive roundup in 30 litres of water/ha) herbicide. There are no known public health risks and the treatment is highly selective for the target weed.
Visitors to Booderee are advised that the Program will require closures of the park including:
- Cave Beach and Cave Beach campground
- West of Cave Beach Road, including all of the Bherwerre Beach dune system south of Elmoos Road
The areas of closure are outlined on the attached map. Signage will be posted to indicate the closure of these areas at the time of the operations.
