Christmas Island is a remote tropical island in the Indian Ocean located south of Jakarta, Indonesia. Covered by rainforest and surrounded by deep ocean bountiful in marine life, it has rugged limestone coastline. The island is an Australian territory and is rich in Malay and Chinese culture.

The Christmas Island Tourist Association operates a Visitor Centre and booking office opposite the Supermarket in Gaze Road in the Settlement area. Comprehensive information on the range of activities, facilities and special events that the island has to offer is available and bookings may be made with the Centre for car hire, boat and land tours, fishing and diving tours, bus charter and accommodation.
