About the application
The Department of the Environment has received an application for a permit under Part 13, section 237 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The application is to undertake scientific research on a number of whale species within the Australian Whale Sanctuary, including in Antarctica and the waters in between. Research activities include photo ID, biopsy sampling and satellite tagging. Research will be undertaken by Curt and Micheline Jenner from the Centre for Whale Research.
In accordance with the provisions of section 237(3b) of the EPBC Act, you are invited to comment on this proposal before COB 12 November 2013.
