Recommendations

The Committee recommends that the threatening process "Damage to marine ecosystems by trawling in the area of the Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery" is not eligible at this time for inclusion as a key threatening process in the list referred to in section 183 of the EPBC Act. However, the Committee remains concerned about these issues, and further, recommends the listing advice be reviewed in five years, or earlier should additional information become available on any aspect of the impact of trawling on the benthic environment or specific associated taxa.
