- Register of Environmental Organisations 2015 statistical return form (PDF - 67.56 KB) | (DOCX - 97.17 KB)
Organisations listed on the Register are required to submit statistical information to the Department on an annual basis. This requires the submission of a statistical return form.
Organisations with a financial year from 1 July to 30 June are required to submit a statistical return by 31 October. Organisations that operate with a different financial year are required to submit the return within a reasonable time following the end of their financial year.
Organisations on the Register that are also Registered Charities are required to report to both the Department and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission.
To avoid delays in reporting, organisations are not required to submit a copy of their audited financial statement with the statistical return. However, the Department may request supplementary information, including an audited financial statement, as part of its assurance process.
Organisations listed by name in the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 are not required to report to the Department where the organisation is a Registered Charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
Statistical return forms for previous years
Those organisations who have not submitted statistical returns for previous years can access the forms for previous years below. These forms should be submitted with the 2015 statistical return.

The Department will be undertaking an assurance process for the Register involving a sample of organisations. Organisations subject to this assurance process may be requested by the Department to provide supplementary information to the statistical return at that time, and this may include an audited financial statement. The Department will provide reasonable notice for the organisation to respond to any such request.
Failure to provide information requested by the Department may result in the commencement of compliance action which may result in removal from the Register. Any action taken by the Department in this regard will be done in accordance with the Register's Guidelines and relevant legislation, including the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.
