Following an investigation by the department into the clearing of 4 ha of native grasslands on a property at Mickleham, VIC, it was determined that the clearing is likely to have had a significant impact on the critically endangered Natural Temperate Grassland of the Victorian Volcanic Plan (NTGVVP). In response to the clearing, the Minister’s delegate issued a remediation determination under s480D of the EPBC Act on 6 November 2013.

The remediation determination requires the landowners, Min Zhai and Robert Gallizia, to rehabilitate 4 ha of NTGVVP and conserve, manage and enhance native grasslands across their 43 ha property.

The landowners have cooperated with departmental officers throughout the investigation and have been willing to undertake rehabilitation and ongoing management works on the property.
