Notice to Importers and Exporters

WTR2013/6

Permits are not transferable

Permit holders (particularly holders of Multiple Consignment Authorities) are reminded that permits are NOT transferable, unless specifically authorised by the department.

Under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act), only the person or business entity named on the permit as the exporter or importer is authorised to export or import the wildlife specimens listed on the permit.

A permit (including a Specimen Export Record under a Multiple Consignment Authority) may not be transferred to, or used by, any other party to facilitate their exports/imports. Heavy penalties or fines may apply in instances where regulated wildlife is exported or imported without the required permit by a person other than the nominated permit holder.
