The Australian Government is proud to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Landcare protecting and enhancing our natural environment.
To mark the important milestone, Minister for the Environment Greg Hunt today announced the Australian Government is providing a grant of more than $90,000 to Landcare Australia.
This funding will support a range of activities by the Landcare community over the next twelve months and encourage more Australians to get involved with their local Landcare group.
This funding will support:
- The Younger Landcare Programme to recruit more young volunteers
- Junior Landcare educational resources for schools - investing in the next generation of Landcarers
- The Landcare Hero Honour Roll - dedicated and hardworking Landcare volunteers nominated by their local communities.
Landcare Australia Limited CEO, Tessa Jakszewicz, welcomed the Australian Government’s support.
“It’s fantastic to see the Australian Government supporting this year of celebration as we mark 25 years of Landcare as a national program. It acknowledges the significant achievements of Landcare and helps ensure its future through fostering and encouraging a new generation of Landcarers,” Ms Jakszewicz said.
Minister Hunt invited regional natural resource management organisations and communities across the country to get involved and support their local Landcare groups in this celebratory year.
“The Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme will ensure our important natural assets are protected and improved by involving community and Landcare groups in delivering local and long-term land management solutions,” Minister Hunt said.
