I am delighted to announce event registrations for Australian Heritage Week 2014 are now open.
Australian Heritage Week is an annual celebration of the places, buildings, landscapes and stories of our local communities that make our country great. It provides a link to our nation's heritage.
We have a rich and diverse tapestry of local and national heritage to conserve and celebrate.
Australian Heritage Week is an opportunity for communities and local groups to come together and learn about our heritage.
You can experience some of our amazing natural places, our rich Indigenous heritage and the diverse historic sites that reflect our development as a nation.
Local groups and communities can get involved in Australian Heritage Week by planning and hosting a range of exciting activities to showcase your community's unique heritage.
Every town, city and community across Australia has something to celebrate.
Last year, Australian Heritage Week saw over 300 different activities held around the country, with events in every state and territory. Some event highlights were heritage walks, concerts in the park, community fairs and festivals, tours of historic buildings and places, and hands-on activities for children.
Australian Heritage Week 2014 will run from Saturday 12 April to Sunday 20 April.
Registering your event for Australian Heritage Week 2014 is a great way to celebrate our heritage and promote your local community.
I encourage all event organisers to register their events for Australian Heritage Week online now.
