Tully Millstream Correction

26 March 1996
(48/96)

Federal Environment Minister, Robert Hill, has issued a correction of a report in today's Cairns Post in relation to the Tully Millstream hydroelectric proposal. The report quoted Senator Hill as saying:

"As you know, we have supported the concept in principle and we will be talking to groups who have been a party to discussions and to those who feel they should have been a party."

A tape of the interview clearly shows that the Minister's comments were in relation to his proposed meetings with parties involved in the Cape York Land Use Agreement and not the Tully Millstream Project.

The Minister will be requesting that the Cairns Post publish a clarification of this.
