More than $11.5 Million for Eden-Monaro Environment


The Howard Government has invested $11.5 million in improving sustainable agriculture and the environment in the Eden-Monaro electorate through the $2.7 billion Natural Heritage Trust, said Member for Eden Monaro, Gary Nairn.

Visiting the Eden-Monaro electorate today, Minister for the Environment and Heritage,
Dr David Kemp, said 219 environmental projects had been funded through the Natural Heritage Trust.

"These projects included revegetating streambanks, rehabilitating agricultural land, and improving water quality," Dr Kemp said.

"The Trust has been very successful in delivering environmental outcomes for the region as well as engaging the Eden-Monaro community in addressing local natural resource management issues."

Under the Trust funding, the Australian Government Envirofund - the key community component of the Natural Heritage Trust - has provided small grants to community-based projects in Eden-Monaro this year, through its regular and special drought rounds.
