About the report
This article reports a spike in wildfire activity in central Australian bioregions in the latter part of 2011. Data are drawn from fire scars mapped from satellite data by Landgate in WA. The increase in area burnt followed two years of above-average rainfall and mirrored a similar sequence of events a decade earlier.
