SA Training and Consulting delivers training through a partnership between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, and trainers are experienced in delivering training to Indigenous people.

Mrs Laura Long has a Bachelor of Agriculture and a Post Graduate Bachelor of Education and a CIV in Training and Assessment.

Training experience

Mrs Long is the Director of SA Training and Consulting (SATC), the RTO. SATC was developed following a formal request from Ngarrindjeri Ruwe Authority (NRA) South Australia to service their staff members with accredited training in Conservation and Land Management and agriculture.

Mrs Long has worked exclusively with NRA to deliver Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (CALM) with Ngarrindjeri staff. SATC has a 95% completion rate, with a high percentage of students progressing to Certificate IV in CALM.

Mrs Long has also worked with NRA representatives and Dr Steven Hemming (Australian Aboriginal Studies specialist, Flinders University) and Ngarrindjeri Ruwe Authority supervisors to develop Certificate III cultural heritage student materials and assessments.

SA Training and Consulting and NRA have a memorandum of understanding in place allowing access to NRA staff to work as specialist industry consultants in cultural heritage management. SATC uses NRA's Indigenous trainer and assessors to deliver the cultural heritage units. This consultant is passionate about sharing cultural heritage management knowledge and experience with younger Ngarrindjeri community members and children.

Recent experience

SA Training and Consulting has delivered cultural heritage management training to Indigenous group within the last 12 months (valid at March 2013).
