Mount William Stone Hatchet Quarry, Victoria

Around 1500 years ago as our eastern woodlands began to expand, the Wurundjeri people of Mount William adapted to their new environment by using local materials in innovative ways. Showing great enterprise, they quarried stone at Mount William to make rough hatchet heads for trade, hunting and gathering.
