Kokoda Education Resource
To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Kokoda campaign, the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) has developed an education resource titled 'Kokoda: Exploring the Second World War campaign in Papua New Guinea'.
While it is structured into teaching units for secondary school students, it is suitable for anyone interested in the military history of the Kokoda campaign.
The teaching units cover the significance and strategic importance of Kokoda, fighting and living conditions, casualties, personal experiences of Australian and Japanese soldiers and modern day pilgrimages to the site.
The resource is available from the DVA website at: http://www.dva.gov.au/commems_oawg/commemorations/education/Pages/education%20resources.aspx
DVA has also developed a DVD, CD ROM, Kokoda map and posters which are available from the same website.
