November 2000

PDF file

Mr Roger Beale AM
Secretary - Department of the Environment and Heritage

I am pleased to introduce the second Asia-Pacific Focal Point Newsletter.

Since the first newsletter was produced in 2000 there have been a number of important advances with the World Heritage Convention, both globally and within the Asia-Pacific region. At the 24th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Cairns, Australia, 27 November - 2 December 2000, 61 new sites were added to the World Heritage List, of which 10 were in Asia, including four additional cultural sites in China, two in Korea and one in Japan.
