About this assessment

The Australian Heritage Council found that Bondi Beach is significant in our cultural history, recognised at home and abroad as the archetypal Australian beach. It is the site of Australia's first recognised surf lifesaving club in 1907, and an iconic place in the celebration of the Australian beach culture of mateship and our easygoing lifestyle.

In some cases the Minister will have made amendments to such matters as boundaries, values and descriptions, before listing the place. For final listing data visit the Australian Heritage Database  or the National Heritage Listing for Bondi Beach .
