A range of datasets based on current NVIS data are available for viewing through web-mapping systems.

Instructions for viewing NVIS data using the ANRA Map Maker

1. Open the ANRA Map Maker at http://www.anra.gov.au/mapmaker/mapservlet?app=anra

2. A list of available layers are called up by clicking the yellow "Layers" button at the top of the Map Maker window (blue circle in Fig. 1 below). Layers can be switched on or off as required by checking or unchecking the box beside the layer's name. NVIS layers can be added by clicking on the "More layers" button at the bottom of the Layers box (red circle Fig. 1.)

3. To add NVIS data, expand the "Biodiversity & vegetation" heading, select your layer/s of interest, and click "OK". The layers you selected will appear at the top of the Layers box. Metadata for each layer can be viewed by clicking on the layer's name.

4. Zoom in on the map using the "zoom in" tool . Click or draw a box on the map to zoom in to a particular area. Features can be identified on the map using the "information" tool .

5. NVIS layers that can be viewed using the Map Maker include:
   1. Extant Major Vegetation Groups 2001
   2. Pre-European Major Vegetation Groups 2001
   3. NVIS Level 5 Extant 1997 - ACT
   4. NVIS Level 4-5 Extant 1997 - NSW
   5. NVIS Level 5 Extant 1997 - NT
   6. NVIS Level 5 Extant 1997 - QLD
   7. NVIS Level 5 Extant 1997 - SA
   8. NVIS Level 5 Extant 1997 - TAS
   9. NVIS Level 5 Extant 1997 - VIC
   10. NVIS Level 4 Extant 1997 - WA
