Assessment of impacts
The Assessment of impacts of the proposed coal seam gas operations on surface and groundwater systems in the Murray-Darling Basin Report was commissioned by the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Populations and Communities on advice in the Geoscience Australia and Habermehl report (2010) that the location and nature of current and proposed CSG activities in Queensland may trigger Section 255AA - Mitigation of unintended diversions - of the Commonwealth Water Act 2007. The scope of this study was to undertake a desktop study to determine the impacts of the proposed CSG operations on the connectivity of groundwater systems, surface water and groundwater flows and water quality in the Murray-Darling Basin.
