The Emissions Reduction Fund is a central element of the Australian Government's Direct Action Plan. The Fund will be designed to source low-cost emissions reductions, providing incentives for emissions reduction activities across the Australian economy.
Public consultation - now closed
The Emissions Reduction Fund (the Fund) Terms of Reference were released on 16 October 2013 by the Government to assist interested parties in making submissions on the design of the Fund.
Submissions closed on Monday 18 November 2013, and are being used to inform the development of the Green Paper.
The Green Paper will set out the Government's preferred options for design of the Fund including potential sources of low cost abatement, and key features such as auctions, baselines and contract arrangements.
The Government intends that the Green Paper will be released in December.
