About the assessment report
The Department of Fisheries Western Australia (DFWA) submitted documents for assessment of the Western Australia (WA) Shark Bay Crab Interim Managed Fishery under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The draft document Application to the Department of the Environment and Water Resources on the Shark Bay Crab Interim Managed Fishery (the submission) was received by the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) in August 2007. The submission was released for public comment which expired on 8 October 2007. No public comments were received.
The submission was used to assess the WA Shark Bay Crab Interim Managed Fishery against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries - 2nd Edition. This DEWHA Assessment Report (November 2007) considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
