In August 2012, the Department of Fisheries Western Australia notified the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities that the Northern Developmental Blue Swimmer Crab Fishery no longer sought to retain export approval. The Department of Fisheries Western Australia can reapply for export approval for the Northern Developmental Blue Swimmer Crab Fishery at any time.
