About the report
In March 2009, the New South Wales Department of Industry and Investment provided a submission for further assessment of the Ocean Trap and Line Fishery under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The submission reported against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries - 2nd Edition and provides updates on the implementation of conditions and recommendations made in the previous assessment undertaken by the then Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts in July 2006.
The 2010 Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and the Communities' assessment report considers the submission and associated documents, the recommendations made in the Review of shark catches in the New South Wales Ocean Trap and Line Fishery - February 2010 and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
