About the assessment report
In November 2010, the Australian Fisheries Management Authority and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry provided a submission for further assessment of the Eastern Tuna and Billfish Fishery under Parts 10, 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The submission reported against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries - 2nd Edition and provides updates on the implementation of conditions and recommendations made in the previous assessment undertaken by the then Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts in July 2008
The 2011 Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and the Communities' assessment report considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
