DSEWPaC has received an application and draft environment assessment report under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 to include Bufo marinus (cane toad) on the live import list to allow import for research purposes.

The report has been prepared against the standard terms of reference and assesses the suitability of Bufo marinus for import into Australia.

Comments are invited on the draft report. It is available for public comment for 40 business days, closing on 1 May 2013. All comments received will be provided to the applicant to address in finalising the assessment report. Any relevant information provided will be considered by the department prior to briefing the minister.
