Members are appointed by the Minister for the Environment and Water Resources. Members are to represent ANZECC (now the Natural Resource Management Ministerial Council (NRMMC)), conservation organisations, the scientific, rural and business communities, indigenous peoples and the Commonwealth.
Dr Andrew Ash
Dr Ash is the leader of the Rangelands and Savannas Program in CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems, Queensland. Dr Ash represents the Scientific community.
Professor Ralf Buckley
Professor Buckley is Chair of Ecotourism in the School of Environmental and Applied Sciences at Griffith University, Queensland, Director of the International Centre for Ecotourism Research and Director of the Nature and Adventure Tourism, Cooperative Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism. Dr Buckley represents the Tourism sector.

Dr Camilleri is the Senior Technical Manager (Environmental Matters) for the Yalumba Wine Company, Angaston, South Australia. Dr Camilleri represents the Business community.
Mr Kim Evans
Mr Evans is a member of the Natural Resource Management Standing Committee and Secretary of the Department of Primary Industries, Water & Environment, Tasmania. Mr Evans represents the body formerly known as the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council (now NRMMC).
Mr Alistair Graham
Mr Graham works for the Tasmanian Conservation Trust. Mr Graham represents Non-Government Conservation organisations.
Mr Tim Low
Mr Low is a biologist, author and photographer based in Queensland. Mr Low represents the Scientific community 'terrestrial' expertise.
Dr Patricia Mather AO
Dr Mather is an Honorary Associate of the Queensland Museum. Dr Mather represents the Scientific community 'marine' expertise.
Councillor Bill Mitchell
Councillor Mitchell is the President of the West Australian Local Government Association, Vice President of the Australian Local Government Association and Councillor at the Murchison Shire Council in Western Australia. Councillor Mitchell represents Local Government.
Associate Professor Stephan Schnierer
Associate Professor Schnierer is the Head of the Centre for Indigenous Fisheries and Biodiversity Related Knowledge at the School of Environmental Sciences and Management, Southern Cross University, New South Wales. Associate Professor Schnierer represents Indigenous peoples.
Mr Bill Sloane
Mr Bill Sloane is a farmer and conservationist from Mulwala, in the southern Riverina region of New South Wales. Mr Sloane is a former director of Greening Australia NSW and a former member of Western Riverina Regional Vegetation Management Committee (NSW), and was the winner of the 2002 Prime Minister's Award for Environmentalist of the Year. Mr Sloane represents the Rural community.
Dr Charlie Zammit
Dr Zammit is the Assistant Secretary of the Natural Resource Management and Policy Branch of the Department of the Environment and Water Resources, Canberra. Dr Zammit represents the Commonwealth.
The Biological Diversity Advisory Committee meets two to three times a year, usually in Canberra. Workshops are held as required. The next meeting is to be advised.
