Census of Australian Vascular Plants

OUT OF PRINT

The Census of Australian Vascular Plants (CAVP) lists the currently accepted scientific names of the vascular plants of Australia. The vascular plants here include all the seed-bearing plants, the ferns and fern allies. For each taxon, the family, genus, species and infraspecific taxa (if present) and the author(s) are listed along with an indication of the distribution in Australia. Where taxa are known to be naturalised they are marked by an asterisk.

CAVP is the first census of vascular plants of Australia for 100 years. The last one was published in 1889 by Mueller as his Second Systematic Census of Australian Plants. Mueller listed 8839 species in 1889. In 1990, the number of species listed in CAVP is 17590.
