Licence applications for new importers
Importers of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6)
Importers of SF6 in bulk gas form who require a valid import licence should fill out the Synthetic Greenhouse Gases controlled substances licence application form. The completed form and necessary documentation should be provided to the Department in full to allow applications to be assessed. The Department's preference is to receive applications and scanned documents via email. These details, as well as post and fax details if necessary, are available on the form.
Importers of equipment
Importers of equipment that contains or is designed to run on ozone depleting substances or synthetic greenhouse gases who require a valid import licence from 1 July 2012 should fill out the ozone depleting substances/synthetic greenhouse gases equipment licence application form. The completed form and necessary documentation should be provided to the Department in full to allow applications to be assessed. The Department's preference is to receive applications and scanned documents via email. These details, as well as post and fax details if necessary, are available on the form.

Licensing and levy exemptions
The government announced on 14 May 2013 that it intends to exempt medicines, veterinary medicines, medical devices and veterinary devices from the licensing and levy provisions of the legislation.
This exemption will come into affect once changes to regulations under the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas legislation are made.
Amendments to Ozone legislation
From 1 July 2012, amendments to Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989 will extend licensing controls.
