WSSD 2002 fact sheet
Environment Australia, August 2002
Australia is committing almost A$1 billion to addressing the threat posed by greenhouse. This level of expenditure, coupled with the commitments made by states and territories, places Australia among the leading nations addressing climate change.
The Australian Government will continue to develop and invest in domestic programs to meet the target agreed to at Kyoto of limiting greenhouse emissions to 108 per cent of 1990 levels over the period 2008 - 2012 (equal to Australia's Kyoto target).
Australia is working with other countries to address climate change and will continue to work with developing nations, industry, business and science to create effective climate change solutions.
